Dalek!

The defining enemy to Doctor Who returns tonight on the new Doctor Who series, in an episode simply titled Dalek.

The word on the series is all good -- still no word on when the new series will air in the U.S.

Smogmonster @ PA's

My brother's band, Smogmonster, will be sludging out at PA's Lounge tonight in Somerville with their double bass wall of sound (that's double bass guitar!)

MassArt Thesis Show (II)

I'm going to the MassArt MFA Thesis Show tonight -- it's the second of three shows. Is it my alma mater if I only went to grad school there? My "grad alma mater"?

Arrested!

I've faithfully signed the Arrested Development Loyalty Oath at getarrested.com

I only caught onto this show half-way through the second season -- it makes me giddy!

Sign the oath. Watch the show!

Web Standards Solutions

I bought the book Web Standards Solutions, by Dan Cederholm, in order to better redesign my sites.

I'm reading it cover to cover -- perfect for a rainy day!

Cream2005.com

A website has been set up for the Cream reunion shows next month in London at cream2005.com

Not sure if this is an "official" site, but I found it at Jack Bruce's official site.

I'm still surprised at how little buzz there is about these shows. Cream hasn't played since their farewell shows in 1968 (sans a brief set at the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame induction party in 1993). Next to seeing all four Beatles perform together, this is the ultimate dream show.

I had a Cream tribute band about 15 years ago: "The Cremora" and I'll post some of our video stuff soon.

Oh, and I'm going to the reunion! To the final show on May 6.

Haircut: Before and After

Stefan cut my hair last night, closing out a haircut immortalized in wedding photos for centuries to come! He didn't bow down to the challenge, deftly trimming my thick locks to a pre-summer clip.

Mary Pickford game

The story of silent film star and early Hollywood force Mary Pickford is the subject of tonight's American Experience program, on PBS. Our team over at WGBH built the web site for this film a while ago (last June maybe?)

My favorite feature on the site is the game Shoot for Stardom where you navigate through the turbulent days of the early film industry. Give it a try! Will you wind up an Oscar winner? Or a silent film has-been?

Shuffling along

My wife and I both got iPod Shuffles yesterday. Since I've had my 20 GB iPod, I've wanted a small flash-media music player that played AAC files to run with. Lo and behold, the Shuffle came along.

I tried running with my regular iPod last week as a test to see if I really needed one. I made it three-quarters of the way around Jamaica Pond when the iPod stopped for about 10 seconds. On my walk home, it turned off altogether. When I got home I saw this strange icon on the screen and I thought, "That's it -- I'm getting the Shuffle!"

iPod Icon 101 has a nice run-down of icons that might appear on your iPod screen (non-Shuffles, of course!)

Feeding Time!

I've set up an RSS Feed on this page and even figured out how to include the logo!

A big thanks to Steve Garfield who has some great instructions on his blog about how to do all of this.
